Cast and Crew

Crew

Camera Man

Our Camera man was James Hunter, he did all the camera work buckling down and getting on with it, without any distractions getting in his way. He work rather well doing the different types of shots and from different parts of the scene. I think that the shots taken were good for our film opening as they have been carefully thought out .

Sound Man

Our sound man is James Ward he was great with the sound and occasionally let me help with the sound to show me how it is done, the sound was done well as it gave a good idea of what type of sound and where we were are going to place it when it comes to editing. It also showed us how complex sound could be. But James was good and it and worked well with what he was doing.

Crew

Martin Morris

This is played by James Ward he was a real nerd addicted to playing games like World of Warcraft he never takes his mind of it, not even if his friends come in and talk about girls. We chose James to play this because he is the one that is most realistic to the character and is able to make himself sound like nerd. He also can be made to look like a nerd as he has long hair that can be tied back and looks like he is tired most of the times like someone who plays on games 24/7.

Barry Walker

This was played by Callum Kelly he is a bit of an idiot in the film opening as shown when he harasses a women in the street, we chose Callum as he makes the character seem funny due to his personality and his facial expressions throughout the scene. We also chose him because he is a hard worker and willing to work with us.

Jack Wade

We chose Blayze White to play the fat slob as he was willing to play it and make a fool of himself  also it will be one of the longest scenes. And he is the most confident to play this scene. We also chose him because he can be a bit annoying but when we need him to work he will work very hard for us.

Tony Green

This was played by Kane Guichard we chose him because he is naturally sporty so he already has a bit of the personality of the character, we also chose him as he is very skinny. He is also was also willing to travel to come help us film which means he was willing to do some work and help us with our opening film scene.

Chelsea Heartwood

This is the girl that is moving in with all the boys, this is played by Sara-Lea Hirstwood, she works well as the character as she is a normal looking girl but also challenges some stereotypes with the make-up as she does not wear any. The people in her group chose her to play this as she is a hard worker and is willing to put most of her time into it.

Other characters

The other character was Ebony Daley, we chose Ebony to prevent an ethnocentric piece of work.We also chose her because the bum would be perfectly suitable for the scene. As it is the main thing that Callum would have to hit.

Ideas from other texts

Our group decided to look at this opening as it relates to what will be our film opening.
First of all it has the idea of a narrative over the top, this helps us with the idea that our group had as we are going to have a narrative over the top, so it gave us some ideas of what we could do for our narrative.
We also were thinking of introducing the main characters at the start as 'Don' did with the narrative over the to, have thought about ideas like freezing the face to see there face fully in the opening scene. We said it may take longer then two minutes so we decided as long as we get a clear look on the actors face that it wouldn't be a problem and we wouldn't have to do it. We also like this as it is a comedy and makes it related to our chosen genre and could give us some inspirational ideas on some of the dialogue.

Script

This is our script that as a group we all came up with. We worked together thinking of how we can make it funny as it is meant to be a comedy. Basically we have done profiles of all the 4 boys moving in with one girl. We did the profiles as we saw it as a way for the audience to meet the main characters.

Job Roles and Description

Director.

The job of the Director is the main figure in any film making production, he/she is omnipotent in the decisions and targetive strategies of complimenting the receivers of media text. they are in charge of most decisions and delegations to prevent problems. In our group the director is Sara Hirstwood as she compliments the directory role in a persistent hard working way which we become institutionalized around to propagate efficient and to unify our collective ideals into a simplistic tactical production.

Cameraman.

The job of the camera operator is a list of various things a dichotomy to the simplistic occupation expected by people in explanation:
  • Setting up required equipment and props etc.
  • Offering explanation to the adequate camera shots and their visual impacts.
  • practising the required camera shots for final performance.
  • taking edicts from director.
The camera man in our group is James Hunter, he is the camera man as we believe he has the ideals and envisions that reflect our group choices and can equally and reliable reflect this onto camera.

    Sound-Technician.

The job of the sound man is to
    • Collect all specified sound on set.
    • Assemble the sound equipment
    • Consulting producers and performers to determine the sound requirements.
James Ward will be the sound man as he has had some experience, and so is technically most suited.

    Producer.

The job of the Producer is
    • Hiring key staff for the job
    • Reading, researching and assessing ideas for production
    • Pulling together the strands to make a successful team.
    • using computer software packages for screen writing budgeting and scheduling.
The producer role is one that is superfluous to be entitled singularly as production and job roles will be given to all members of our group and will all have a hand in it's development.

    Lighting Technician.

The job of lighting technician is
    • Conducting risk assessments for health and safety purposes
    • establishing lighting requirements
    • plotting the lighting
    • pre-rigging the lighting cables to ensure safety
The job of this is not really required as we use natural high key lighting as to fit with the generic comedy conventions and so the job of lighting technician will be assigned to everyone to manage the health and safety which will mean just to try keep everyone safe.

    Student Analysis

    Target Audience Member Profile

    Females under 35

Our group has chosen to aim our film opening at both genders below 35 and it is aimed at a audience at this level. For a female under 35 i have chosen Lara Tilbury she fits the demographics that we are aiming at, so i am going to find out the psychographics. The questions i asked were:
    • What are you likes and dislikes? -  She likes cartoons, drawing and games. She doesn't like little kids, loud noises and ignorant people.
    • What brands do you wear? - Lee Cooper, Joe Browns, DC Etnies and Matalan.
    • What media do the use? - Magazines, news pod casts, Live streams and blogs.
    • What do you get up to in your spare time? Write stories, draw and watch TV.

    Males under 35

We have chosen to study both genders as it would give us a wider range of audience. I have chosen Blayze White to study the psychographics of him as he fits the demographics. The question i asked to him were:
    • What are you likes and dislikes? -  He likes the smurfs, My Chemical Romance and The old spice fragrance. He dislikes people criticising his beliefs as he is religious, violence and people that are annoyingly loud.
    • What brands do you wear? - Vans, Converse and his clothes supports the bands he loves.
    • What media do the use? - Magazines, TV and the Internet
    • What do you get up to in your spare time? He listens to music, hangs out with friends and goes to church.

    Summary

As most people have technology now a days, it is so easy for people to see the media either watching TV or on social networking sites. This could help us with our advertising as is shows use were most of our target audience is, and what they are up to. This means they could advertise on adverts like on itv or channel between certain programs like when sponge-bob is on and The Smurfs as it is a cartoon.

    Our pitches

    Our pitches
Our first one was about people going out one night and waking up in the morning to find things went wrong and figure out what happened but then some police came into the seen and arrested one of them. The theme of our ideas were friendship and the 'bro-mace', this is to show the love between the friends. Our idea of the location was going to be the cricket club as it is like a social place and it can be made to a place where they look like they have had a good but crazy night. Our props were going to be things like the police outfit and the beer cans and bottles shown in the back ground. The actors were going to be some of out friends 'Blayze White' and 'Kane Guichard'. These would have been good to work with as we get along with them. Our target audience was females under 35 as out primary audience however as it is a mainstream genre it can be almost universal. The enigma in the opening scene would have been 'why are they are?', 'what have they done?' and 'why is the police there?' Our unique selling point was the strange outcomes, the amount of enigma and the consequences in a topical lads night out presented in a almost phantasmagorical standpoint.
People did not really like this pitch as it was to similar to the hangover and thought it was copying.
Our second pitch was about 4 people moving into a house with one girl creating an awkward atmosphere.
We would introduce the characters over a narrative voice giving profiles of each person.  Our theme would friendship between the boys and romance. The location is going to be one of our houses to make it look more realistic. The props will be things like computers for the geek and sports thing for the sporty person. Our actors ideas where all of our friend #s as they are reliable to use and will not let us down. The target audience was mostly lads under 35 as it is a 'ladish' concept in the social group C2-E as it is not styled in anyway to the higher class, mainly students. The enigma is 'why is she moving in with them?, and why not a friend?' The unique selling point is the people/attitudes of the characters and the difference in people.
People really liked this pitch as it was an original idea and thought it could be made very funny.

    Interviews to target audience

The interviews were to people of our chosen audience about our genre comedy.

The main points raised were, what they liked what the didn't like this will help us figure out what to put and not put in our film opening. We found from this that most of them don't like gun straight at the start of the film.   They like whit as it is smart come backs. We also asked them what they would like to see in our film opening  and they said they wanted to see smart jokes or whit. We asked different types of people as the genre comedy is so mainstream a reply from different genders and ages would help us appeal to a wider audience. The responses from different types of people will make our film opening more unique as it will attract more of an audience and not a niche market. We released that most comedies are hybrid so making a full and thorough comedy that will also make it more unique.
Using this primary data we will see the results and look into how we can accomplish attracting public from most age, genre, ethnicity etc..., we will look into this and examine our primary idea to see if it fits with the idea that the public want.

    My Group and Genre

The people i have chosen to work with are James Ward and James Hunter. I decided to work with these people as they are easy to get along with and have some good ideas for the film opening.

    James Ward

I chose to work with James has he is a very detailed thinker and i has put some good ideas towards our film opening. He is a hard worker and he is able to think on his feet. James is a good actor as he did GCSE Drama and passed so he is good at acting, this will help in our film opening.

    James Hunter

I chose to to work with James as i think he will be a valuable contribute to our film opening and will help with    everything we need to do. He has also put forward some good ideas which will be good for our film opening. James is a very hard worker and likes to keep to the dead lines, i think this will help within our group to keep on time.

I think that we will all work together well as all three of us are hard workers and want to get the best possible grade.

    Genre

We have chosen to do a comedy as there are so many horror film openings, we wanted to challenge the easy option and go for a harder genre. This is also a good genre for us as a group as we all prefer comedy films.

    Our early ideas

Our early ideas are that we want to do something like that will attract the audience, we were thinking of an idea similar to the film 'The Hangover' but change it to make it different in a way that it is not the same and has ideas from everyone in the group in it.
